ULTRASONIC TESTING

UTG, ultrasonically measures the wall thickness of materials such as steel, plastic and also the metal thickness of a painted structure without having to remove the coating. It is ideal for measuring the effects of corrosion or erosion on tanks, pipes or any structure where access is limited to one side.

ULTRASONIC TESTING

In radiographic testing, the part to be inspected is placed between the radiation source and a piece of radiation sensitive film. The radiation source can either be an X-ray machine or a radioactive source. The radiation that passes through the part will expose the film and forms a shadow graph of the part. The film darkness (density) will vary with the amount of radiation reaching the film through the test object where darker areas indicate more exposure (higher radiation intensity) and lighter areas indicate less exposure (higher radiation intensity).

  • Weld inspection - Structural / Piping / Vessel
  • X-Rays, Gamma Rays (Iridium 192, Selenium 75)
  • Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI), Profile Radiography
  • Permanent Record

ULTRASONIC TESTING

Small Controlled Area Radiography (SCAR) is distinguished by using a compact exposure device. This instrument improves the efficiency of radiographic operations by making it safer, while maintaining or increasing productivity when compared with traditional exposure devices.

The SCAR method allows for a smaller and less intrusive safety zone for the people working in the surrounding areas, hence increasing overall productivity of the radiography team, especially in crowded areas. Since the safety parameter is smaller, multiple operations can happen simultaneously in the same area.

  • 24h/24 radiography;
  • Shut down time reduced to a minimum
  • Reduction or elimination of the effect on the nuclear level alarm.

ULTRASONIC TESTING

Penetrant testing - Based on the properties of capillary action, or the phenomenon of a liquid rising or climbing when confined to a small opening due to surface wetting properties of the liquid, Penetrant testing is used for finding surface breaking discontinuities on relatively smooth, nonporous surfaces.

  • Used on a wide range of material types.
  • Large areas or large volumes of parts/material can be inspected rapidly and at low cost.
  • Parts with complex geometries can be inspected easily.
  • Indications are produced directly on the surface of the part providing a visual image of the anomaly
  • Aerosol spray cans make equipment very portable.
